The Long Distance championships were held on Sunday September 1st on the Chewton map, near Castlemaine. This area features a lot of detailed gold-mining terrain and some gullies with tough vegetation. Ten Yarra Valley members featured in the placings at the Championships, and the club was especially dominant in the Womens 65 category, taking out the first 3 placings. Yarra Valley’s placegetters were:
1st place: Kathy Liley W65, Graeme Cadman M80;
2nd place: Ruth Goddard W65, Peter Lada M35, Barry Sampson M75;
3rd place: Hania Lada W35, Margi Freemantle W55, Libby Meeking W65, Ted van Geldermalsen M55, Tim Dent M65.
On Sunday September 8th, the Middle Distance Championships are being held in Sandon Forest near Newstead.
